Wedding Invitation Trends

Spring / Summer 2023

It's not too early to talk about 2023 wedding paper trends! Your wedding invitations are the first look your guests will have of your big day. From save-the-dates on, your wedding stationery tells your wedding love story and sets the stage for what guests can expect on your wedding day. Together with our couples, we translate their vision into event branding that will carry throughout their wedding to help capture their unique love story.

Some of the trends we are most excited about are playing with color. Going monochromatic with neutrals or doing color in a big way. We also love playing with tactile details and unexpected materials that are not paper.

Let’s talk colors first

This season we have options! We’re not locked into an “It color” or theme. Trends are leaning into creativity and allowing for real flexibility to help tell your wedding story.

Neutrals are the foundation

As we look forward to 2023 Spring/Summer wedding invitation trends, neutrals are our base. Consider going neutral, like a pretty nude tone and build your color story on that foundation. If you struggle with selecting colors, take time to scan through Pinterest and find a few palettes that stand out to you, work with your designer to customize the palate to fit your wedding story. Even doing different shades of white can be so pretty and interesting! DIY: start with that base neutral that you love and add it to a color selecting tool online that will show you some complementary colors to give you inspiration. This tool is easy to use and free. We’ve added a pretty nude tone already to get you started.

Unexpected pops of color

Think about colors you might see in your wedding flowers on your wedding day or colors that hint at the wedding’s time of day or location. We have some on-trend 2023 couples translating this concept to their wedding story by adding papaya, orange, and ginger (it sounds like they're on their way to a fun cocktail at their reception!) in the liner of their nude envelopes. It’s a fun way to incorporate color that adds to the experience your guests have opening their invitations. Another couple has their text printed in a deep midnight blue and adds a complementary and fun cobalt blue to their RSVP cards.

Some of our other forward-thinking couples are leaning into this trend by adding a really cool pop of red or hot pink. We love this 2023 spring/summer trend because it lets you lean into classic and simple while adding that playful touch that you can carry into your wedding day.

Whether your wedding is classic, modern, destination or a combination, color trends for 2023 are super accessible for almost any wedding story.

Tactile Details are the Thing

The next big trend we’re seeing and loving for couples in Spring/Summer 2023 is the intentional addition of tactile details. By now, you’ve probably received your share of wedding invitations. Have you ever noticed that some suites feel like an experience to open? They pull you in, get you excited about attending the wedding, and even give you an idea of what the day will be like? Tactile details are a great way to add to this experience. Think handmade paper, leather, or linen elements to add an elegant and unexpected touch to your invitation suite.

Don’t hesitate to come to the table with some creative ideas for tactile elements for your wedding story. Your designer can help suggest those elements that will complement the overall design concept for your suite and make them feel unique to you.

We love the Spring and Summer 2023 wedding invitation and paper trends because they give couples the opportunity to be creative and unique no matter what their style. Whether you’re planning a truly classic wedding or going all out with a modern aesthetic, these trends can be incorporated into your wedding love story.

PRO TIP: Be open and excited about possible tweaks to your color scheme. Your designer will likely make recommendations to fine-tune or even change some of the colors you select based on several factors like the overall design, best colors for print on your paper type, or what will translate best to the overall concept of your theme.
